Tips & Tricks

Crate Training

- I highly recommend covering their crate with a towel/blanket and playing classical music, a calm kids show, or having a sound machine with nature sounds. A Snuggle Puppy can also help.

- I highly recommend either not taking them out overnight at all, or at most only 1 time.

If you take them out too much, then they won't learn how to hold their potty in for longer.
Daytime Setup
- If possible, I highly recommend having a playpen for your puppy with their crate & potty tray.
This is a great set up, until the point where they're trusted to roam the house.
- I recommend having them in the playpen when you are home, or when you're only going to be gone for a few hours.
They still need to be crate trained during the day, if you ever want them to be fully crate trained.
Toys
- Having different types of toys and switching them out regularly can help with puppy boredom.
It will also give you a good idea on what they like/don't like.

Training
- Start basic puppy commands, leash training, etc... and get them on a schedule on day 1.
Consistency can really help them adjust to their new home faster.
Food
- They'll already be nervous and adjusting to everything, so I'd highly recommend keeping them on the same food for at least a month before slowly switching over to a different brand, if you want to change brands.
- If you change their food too fast, it upsets their stomach and can make them sick.

- Down the line if you happen to want to feed them a raw diet, I highly recommend the brand Fresh Pet.
- I get it from Hy-Vee, but other stores might sell it.
- It's the most affordable one I've found, has pretty good ingredients, and the dogs love it.
